blog optimization: 6 powerful tips for success

The blog optimization has become one of the most widespread tools on the Internet to work on SEO, either integrated into a website or as a stand-alone portal.

The proliferation of this type of website has caused competition in organic positioning to be fierce for a large number of sectors and subjects. Therefore, knowing how to improve the SEO of a blog and being constant in this process becomes essential to attract visitors.

The blog optimization for SEO has multiple approaches. In this article we will focus on two of its main elements: the articles and the general structure of the blog.

Blog optimization: Articles

blog optimization: 6 powerful tips for success

The articles of a blog are the main element for its positioning: each one will concentrate a specific volume of visits and will be oriented to one or a few keywords.

In this sense, the optimization for SEO of these contents becomes essential, which is summarized in the following points:

1-Title:

for the title of our articles we must find the balance between SEO optimization and persuasion of the user. On the one hand, we must include the main keyword of our article and restrict the length to approximately 70 characters (although the space this field will occupy in the Google result is marked by pixels).

Please note that you can use a title for the Google snippet (H1 tag). On the other hand, you should create an attractive title for users to choose your result against those of the competition.

Verbs that lead to action or listings are some resources you can use in your article titles to attract more users.

2-Meta-description tag:

Google has confirmed several times that the meta-description is not used as a positioning factor.

But that does not mean that we should leave out this descriptive text since, for example, if we include the keyword in its content and it coincides with the user’s search, it will be highlighted in bold. The approach we should give to this field, as we also commented with the title, is to persuade the user to click on our page in front of the others.

3-URLs:

usually the mistake is made of not retouching the URL of an article, leaving the content manager used to generate it automatically from the title of the article.

We must retouch the URL taking into account points such as the inclusion of the main keyword, avoid quilometric URLs, use only hyphens to separate words, remove terms such as prepositions or articles and do not include special characters.

4-Images:

lack of resources often leads many blog authors to use stock photos for their articles. This has some drawbacks, such as the lack of originality of them, so whenever possible we should use original images and with some persuasive element.

On a technical level, it is imperative to reduce the weight of the image file, since the loading speed of a website has recently become a factor in mobile positioning for Google.

We must also include the keyword in the file name and in the HTML alt and title attributes, which must also be descriptive of the image itself.

5-Structure of the article:

although the content will largely determine the structure of the article, there are a series of conventions to facilitate the optimization for SEO of the same. For example, the use of an H1 heading as the title of the article and the lower ones H2, H3, H4, etc. to divide it internally; the inclusion of resources such as lists or highlights; and, of course, adding the keyword naturally in the content.

6-Variety of content:

when creating new content for the blog, there is no need to stick to the traditional text and image scheme. We can incorporate elements such as videos, computer graphics, guides, documentation in PDF format…
