Install an excellent plug-in to boost SEO.

My favorite free SEO solution is Yoast’s WordPress SEO, making it easy with its traffic light meters (green and yellow, red light). Ensure that the simple installation of this plug-in is not helpful in itself, but many bloggers stop at this first step. Its true power lies in understanding how to use it correctly and choosing the right keywords and using Rank Math which I recommend.

Do some keyword research.

Go to Google’s keyword tool and spend some time researching those words to understand better which ones generate traffic.

The trick with keywords is never to assume that you know which ones are best; ALWAYS research to make sure you use the most popular words that best suit your product, service, and blog topic.

If you use specific keywords to Drive SEO, such as “Carlos life coach” or “life coach in Colombia” instead of just “life coach,” it is much more likely to rank well, with the added advantage of getting more target readers, with precision for your local business.

I recommend that you create a free AdWords account (or log into your account, if you already have one) and select the keywords you think are most likely to be searched.

Adding your city and state will give you local search results to review, plus some great ideas for blog entries that fit what people are looking for.

Using the keywords entered, Google will display a list of other relevant keywords that were searched in the previous month. Export those words to an Excel list, rank the most popular and least popular terms, and then save the document for easy reference later.

Choose a keyword, then include it in your permalink post, title, and first sentence.

Make sure you have WordPress configured to name the URL of the page as the name of your message (which can be changed in settings> permalinks> message name); this will automatically put the keyword in the URL of your message – also called permalink, this is an essential component for SEO success.

Then use the default text for the “SEO Title” field at the bottom of the page (which is your title plus your blog name), and copy the first sentence of the entry into the “Meta Description” field.

If good writing dictates not using the keyword in the first sentence (which happens often but is not optimal), then paste in the first sentence of the blog where there are keywords, or write one that correctly describes that keyword.

Put the keyword in the “Meta Keywords” field, and that’s it.

Make sure the keyword is included in the body of the message a few times, is relevant and appropriate, and then press publish, boost the blog SEO part here.

While some other steps and tactics help boost SEO, these recommendations are essential to this end.

Last note: make sure you offer readers several ways to subscribe.

If you can’t convert them to email or RSS subscribers and don’t see your new posts on social media, they probably won’t think about coming back to your website.
